Reviews for Leo the Roarless Lion

Juda is already demonstrating his mastery of the horror genre. The carnage that his villain creatures can inflict shows what an amazing imagination Juda possesses. I can’t wait to read what he comes up with next, and the future of horror is in good hands.

—Daniel Platzman, musician, songwriter, composer, and drummer for the band Imagine Dragons.

Jefferson Island by 12-year-old author Juda Maha is a debut coming-of-age-horror novel mature in storytelling, intentionality, and visceral in composition. A welcomed, modern addition to the world of spine-tingling tales.

—Meg Raby, acclaimed author of ‘My Brother Otto’

With Jefferson Island, Juda Maha announces himself as a sparkling new voice in the Young Adult Thriller/Horror genre. A coming-of-age saga that evokes tones of Stephen King’s THE MIST and Robert Kirkman’s THE WALKING DEAD. It’s hard to pinpoint which is the most frightening element of Maha’s first book. Is it the Blood Eagle bone crunching humanoid monster…the speed with which survival of the fittest dehumanizes a community…or perhaps it’s the fact that the burgeoning young author is 12 years old and just getting warmed up.

—Stephen Kunken, American actor known for the roles of Ari Spyros on Showtime's Billions and Commander Putnam on Hulu's The Handmaid's Tale.
